Baptism

Baptisms are by appointment only. The parents and godparents will need to complete a training course which is held once a month. Click on this link to download form. Please complete and return to church office.

Requirements for Baptism
* Children must be under the age of seven to be baptized as infants. Children over the age of seven, which is the presumed age of reason, must attend Religious Education before receiving the sacrament. Please text the Director of Religious Education, Zoila Cisneros (210) 884-2944 for more information regarding this program.

Los bautismos son solo con cita previa. Los padres y padrinos tendrán que completar un curso de capacitación que se lleva a cabo una vez al mes. Haga clic en este enlace para descargar el formulario. Por favor complete y regrese a la oficina de la iglesia.

First Communion

The sacrament of Eucharist is celebrated along with the sacrament of Reconciliation at the end of the 3rd grade. Sacramental preparation begins in the 2nd grade and enrollment in Faith Formation is required during both years of this two-year preparation period.

Registration for the First Communion:
1. Parents must be members of the Parish or if your child received his or her Faith Formation in a different parish, please obtain a Letter of Assurance from this organization.

2. Complete Registration Online or in Person.

3. Provide us with a copy of your child's BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATE

4. Pay class registration fee in person ($30.00)

El sacramento de la Eucaristía se celebra junto con el sacramento de la Reconciliación al finalizar el 3er grado. La preparación sacramental comienza en el segundo grado y se requiere la inscripción en Formación de Fe durante ambos años de este período de preparación de dos años.

Inscripción para la Primera Comunión:

1. Los padres deben ser miembros de la parroquia o si su hijo recibió su formación en la fe en una parroquia diferente, obtenga una carta de garantía de esta organización.

2. Complete el registro en línea o en persona.

3. Proporciónenos una copia del CERTIFICADO DE BAUTISMO

4. Pagar la cuota de inscripción de la clase en persona ($30.00)

Confirmation

Through the sacrament of Confirmation, we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and renew our baptismal promises. One also becomes more aware of the presence of the Holy Spirit through the anointing of chrism oil and the laying of hands by the Bishop. Confirmation enriches the baptized with the Holy Spirit such that we commit to living a life of maturity in the Christian faith.

Those who are looking to receive the sacrament of Confirmation should work towards building a more intimate relationship with Christ such that they are more ready to take on the responsibilities of living a Christian life. (CCC1309)

Preparation for Confirmation here at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church is a two-year formation process.

Mediante el sacramento de Confirmación recibimos los dones del Espíritu Santo y renovamos nuestras promesas bautismales. Por la unción del aceite del crisma y la imposición de manos por el Obispo somos más conscientes de la presencia del Espíritu Santo. La Confirmación enriquece al bautizado con el Espíritu Santo y lo compromete a vivir una vida de madurez en la fe Cristiana

Aquellos que desean recibir el sacramento de la Confirmación deben tener como meta conducir al Cristiano a una unión mas intima con Cristo a fin de poder asumir mejor las responsabilidades de la vida Cristiana. (CCC1309)

La preparación para el sacramento de Confirmación en la Iglesia del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus es de dos años.

Matrimony

The Sacrament of Marriage signifies the union of Christ and the Church. It gives spouses the grace to love each other with the love with which Christ has loved his Church; (cf. Council of Trent: DS 1799) CCC1661. The vocation to marriage is written in the very nature of man and woman as they came from the hand of the Creator. God himself is the author of marriage.

El sacramento del matrimonio significa la unión de Cristo y la Iglesia. Da a los esposos la gracia de amarse con el amor con que Cristo amó a su Iglesia; (Cf. Concilio de Trento: DS 1799) CCC1661. La vocación al matrimonio se inscribe en la naturaleza misma del hombre y de la mujer, según salieron de la mano del Creador. Dios mismo es el autor del matrimonio.

Confessions

There are five steps that should be taken in order to complete the Sacrament of Reconciliation:
1) Examine your conscience about the sins against the Ten Commandments
2) To be remorseful
3) To decide not to sin again..., be more like Jesus (conversion, a change of heart).
4) Confess your sins to a priest and receive forgiveness.
5) Doing the PENANCE.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered by appointment based on the availability of the priest. Call the church office at (210) 622-3457.

Hay cinco pasos que se deben tomar con el fin de completar el Sacramento de la Reconciliación:
1) Hacer un examen de conciencia acerca de los pecados contra los Diez Mandamientos
2) Arrepentirse de los pecados
3) Decisión de no volver a pecar..., ser más como Jesús (conversión, un cambio de corazón).
4) Confesar sus pecados a un sacerdote y recibir el perdón u absolución.
5) Cumplir la PENITENCIA.
